Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern the use of the website and professional services provided by Canada Political Audit & Evaluation Team Inc. (“CPAET,” “we,” “us,” or “our”). By accessing our website or engaging our services, you agree to be bound by these Terms.
1. Scope of Services
CPAET provides professional services related to political financing filing or audit, including services for candidates, Electoral District Associations (EDAs), third parties, and other political entities, across federal, provincial, and municipal elections in Canada.
All services are provided strictly in accordance with the terms outlined in a written engagement agreement. No services are deemed to be provided unless and until an engagement agreement is executed by both parties.
2. No Legal Advice
CPAET does not provide legal advice. Our services are professional accounting, audit, and compliance services related to political financing. Any references to election laws or regulations are provided for informational and compliance purposes only and should not be relied upon as legal advice. Clients are encouraged to consult legal counsel where appropriate.
3. Client Responsibilities
Clients are responsible for:
- Providing complete, accurate, and timely information and documentation
- Maintaining original records and supporting documentation
- Reviewing drafts, filings, and reports provided by CPAET
- Confirming the accuracy of information prior to final submission
CPAET relies on information provided by clients and is not responsible for errors or omissions resulting from incomplete, inaccurate, or late information.
4. Engagement Process
Services commence only after:
- Scope and pricing are confirmed
- A written engagement agreement is signed
CPAET reserves the right to decline or terminate an engagement if required information is not provided, deadlines cannot reasonably be met, or professional independence or ethical standards may be compromised.
5. Fees and Payment Terms
Fees are determined based on the scope, complexity, and timing of services and will be clearly communicated in advance.
- Fees quoted in CAD and confirmed in writing
- Invoices are payable within the timeframe specified in the engagement agreement
- Expedited or rush services, where available, are subject to additional fees and must be agreed upon in advance
- CPAET reserves the right to suspend work for non-payment
All fees are exclusive of applicable taxes unless otherwise stated.
6. Deadlines and Timing
CPAET plans its work to allow adequate time for preparation, review, and confirmation prior to applicable filing deadlines.
Requests for last-minute submissions, accelerated timelines, or work initiated close to statutory deadlines may not be accommodated and, where accepted, may require additional fees.
7. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, CPAET’s liability for any claim arising from services provided shall be limited to the fees paid for the specific services giving rise to the claim.
CPAET shall not be liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental damages, including penalties, fines, or losses resulting from information provided by the client or actions taken by election authorities.
8. Confidentiality and Privacy
CPAET is committed to maintaining client confidentiality and protecting personal and financial information in accordance with professional standards and applicable privacy laws. Use of information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
9. Intellectual Property
All materials, templates, checklists, workflows, and content provided by CPAET remain the intellectual property of CPAET unless otherwise agreed in writing. Clients may use such materials solely for their intended purpose within the scope of the engagement.
10. Online Services and Communications
CPAET operates as a fully online firm. Communications and document exchanges may occur electronically. Clients acknowledge the inherent risks of electronic communication and agree to use secure channels as designated by CPAET.
All services are provided remotely using:
- Google Meet for consultations
- Google Drive for document sharing
- No phone or in-person support is provided
11. Termination
Either party may terminate an engagement in accordance with the terms outlined in the engagement agreement. Fees for services performed up to the date of termination remain payable.
12. Governing Law
These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Province of Ontario and the applicable laws of Canada.
13. Changes to These Terms
CPAET may update these Terms from time to time. Updated versions will be posted on our website with a revised effective date.
